Not all mold removers are alike. Sure they may claim to work just as great as every product available on today’s market, but let’s face it, if that were true we wouldn’t be here right now reading this article on products for the job, now would we?

Of course it’s also quite obvious that we can’t just spray a sample of the product here and a sample of another product there to find out what works and what doesn’t…

So instead we venture online and do a search for a potential mold and mildew remover that we’re interested in and hope we find some really great reviews for it. Yet even with a review you may very well find that you’re missing some important information such as what’s in that bottle of spray.

Are you okay with using a product that contains harsh chemicals that could possibly cause damage to you and your family’s health, not to mention the environment? Do you want to find a product that’s chemical-free or are you just interested in making your own black mold removal home remedies to save both the environment and money. So have you asked yourself those questions? If not, you need to.

Choosing the right product for mold should be like choosing a fine wine. It should be pleasant and not harsh on your senses or the environment and it should leave your home free from mold without the need to apply the product over and over again just to see any results.

And then there’s the price. Like a cheap bottle of wine, you may wind up getting a product that just doesn’t cut it. However, the most expensive bottle of spray doesn’t always mean you’ll get your money’s worth either.

And what about those homemade products? Depending on the mold you’re dealing with, you may find that some with work while others will need several applications before you see any results. It’s really just a matter of doing your research to find out what seems to be working for everyone and what’s not.

You should keep in mind however that even the greatest product or natural remedy for mold should never be a replacement for professional mold removal services. If you find that your home has been overrun by mold, you’re really better off hiring someone to help eliminate the problem.

The same should be done if you or anyone in your family is allergic to fungus. And yes, you could send your family members away and do the cleanup yourself, but a professional can make sure your home is allergy-free by using special equipment and cleaners to get the job done right the first time.

Still, hiring a professional isn’t cheap, so if your fungal problem is manageable (10 square feet or less) there’s no reason why you can’t save money by doing the work yourself. And when you arm yourself with the right knowledge when it comes to mold removers, you can have your home mold-free in no time at all.

The holidays are here and with family and friends coming to stay, maybe it’s time you did some thorough cleaning in the bathroom and make sure you’re not going to scare them away with nasty shower mold and mildew. Now as far as dinner is concerned, you’re on your own!

In order to get started on this messy task, you’ll need a pair of rubber gloves, a paper mask if you’re allergic to mold and mildew, a scrub brush, clean dry rags and a good tough cleaner that won’t be harmful to your health. And yes that means skip the bleach and ammonia. You don’t want your family and friends passing out from chemical fumes, do you?

There are plenty of mildew and black mold removal home remedies that will work just find for simple jobs like this. Plus, they’re not only easy on our health; they’re easy on the pocketbook as well.

A mixture of vinegar and water in a spray bottle will get rid of the problem while leaving the bathroom fresh and clean. Simply spray on the affected areas, scrub with a brush if necessary, then rinse and wipe clean with a dry cloth. If you can’t stand the smell of vinegar you can always open the bathroom windows to help minimize the strong odor.

You can make a paste of baking soda and vinegar and scrub it into the affected areas. Then rinse with vinegar and water to really get the areas clean. Finally, rinse with water and wipe clean with a dry cloth.

Since bathmats are a wonderful place for mold to grow, be sure you wash your bathmat and dry it after every use. And if it’s possible, place your bathmat outside in the sun for several hours. It is said that sunlight may be able to help remove small amounts of mold.

You can also add a tablespoon of tea tree oil to a spray bottle of water and use that on your bathroom mold and mildew. Then simply rinse with water and wipe with a dry cloth. However, you need to keep in mind that tea tree oil does come at a hefty price, so if you’re on a budget, you’re better off sticking with vinegar, baking soda or sunlight.

After you’ve cleaned your bathroom to a nice healthy, sparkling shine again, you can make your life a whole lot easier if you consider investing in a dehumidifier or exhaust fan for your bathroom. Both will remove the moisture from the air, which in return will help minimize future problems. If you can’t afford either of them, you can open your bathroom windows and wipe off the walls after bathing or showering.

Even cleaning your bathroom on a regular basis can help minimize moisture and control fungus. And who wouldn’t want a clean bathroom anyway? And it’s especially nice to hear your friends and family whispering to everyone about how great your bathroom looks. And you won’t have to worry about scaring them away with your shower mold and mildew!

Most people who’ve experienced pink mold believe it’s a fungus. However, it’s actually an airborne bacterium known as Serratia Marcescens. And because this type of bacteria contains mold it also prefers damp conditions and can be found in bathrooms (think tile grout).

So in order to remove this nasty substance, you can clean it just as you would when you’re dealing with bathroom mold. There are many different types of commercial products available on the market, but if you’re on a budget, you can try a few of these ideas.

Many people believe that bleach is the solution to every household-cleaning problem there is. While there are a lot of debates as to whether it can clean everything, it’s still number one on the list despite its dangerous vapors. If you still favor bleach you can try getting rid of mold by mixing one cup of regular household bleach with one gallon of water to use as a solution.

You should at least open all of the windows in or near your bathroom to at least minimize some of the irritation that this chemical can cause. Also be sure to wear a pair of rubber gloves to prevent skin irritations and other problems. Also you should invest in some scrubbing brushes and an old toothbrush that you can easily throw away.

You can then apply the bleach solution using a scrub brush to get down in those hard to reach areas. Once you’ve applied the bleach, let it set for at least 10 minutes and then rinse with clean water. If you find there is still some of the pinkish bacteria on your shower walls you may need to repeat the steps. After the final rinse, you’ll then want to dry the area with a clean rag.

If you prefer something that doesn’t involve the use of dangerous fumes, a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water can work just as well. You can use the same method as the bleach solution when applying it to the affected area.

Another solution that many people swear by is a boric acid solution. Spray the solution to the affected areas and let sit for at least 5 minutes. Next, scrub the area with a brush to really clean the hard to reach areas. Next, spray the solution again and let it sit for another 5 minutes. Then, rinse the area with clean water and dry with a rag.

To prevent future pink mold in your bathroom or other areas of the home, remember all molds enjoy warm and wet places. Investing in a bathroom fan and opening the windows every time you bathe or shower can reduce mold growth. Also, drying off shower walls and the bathtub can help. Or for showers, you can even invest in a simple squeegee to wipe down walls and shower doors after every use.

In most cases it’s not necessary to call in a professional when you have a minor mold problem in your home. As a matter of fact in can be a whole lot cheaper when you can tackle the situation yourself. A mold spray is an easy solution that can be either purchased from a home and gardening store, or if you’re worried about the effects of toxic chemicals, you can make your own.

If you’ve chosen to take the simplest route and just want to purchase a mold and mildew remover, you’ll want to read the label to make sure it’s safe around children and pets if you have either. Also some products may require more than one application and have chemicals than some people cannot be around such as bleach and ammonia, so always be sure and read the labels.

If you prefer the greener route, there are many mold products on the market that are safe for the environment or you can make a natural mold spray cleaning solution that can work just as well and in some cases even better than the professional products. Here are a few safer alternatives that you can try for house mold.

Vinegar is an inexpensive solution that many homeowners use. It should be used as it is without diluting it. You can apply the vinegar using a sprayer or old sponge to any moldy areas you may have in your home. Then, let the vinegar dry. Rinsing is not necessary.

Hydrogen Peroxide is another cheap and effective solution for killing mold. Simply apply the hydrogen peroxide using a sponge or sprayer to affected areas of your home and then let dry. Again, rinsing is not necessary. However, because this solution can bleach surfaces, do not use it on colored fabrics or surfaces that can be lightened.

Lemon Juice in an undiluted state can also be used to kill mold. You can mix the lemon juice with a pinch of salt and apply the solution to affected areas – then, let set for ten minutes and rinse.

Tea Tree Oil is said to be a very effective solution against many different types of mold, but can be very expensive. It can also have a very strong smell. If you don’t mind the cost or smell of tea tree oil, you can mix one teaspoon of it with one cup of water, then shake to mix. Apply to affected surfaces and let dry. You don’t need to rinse.

Grapefruit Seed Extract is another expensive but effective solution against mold. But even though it is expensive, it doesn’t have a strong smell because it’s odorless unlike other solutions. To use Grapefruit seed extract, mix ten drops of it with one cup of water, and then shake to mix. Apply to affected areas and let dry. You don’t need to rinse.

Borax Powder can be mixed with water by adding 1 tablespoon of the powder to one cup of water, then shake to mix. Apply mixture to problem areas, scrubbing if necessary and reapplying. Again, no need to rinse.

Baking Soda can be used on houseplants as mold growth inhibitor only. To apply, combine three teaspoons of baking soda with one gallon of water and spray on soil and the plant itself.

As you can see, making your own mold spray at home is pretty simple.

Mold and mildew are not the same no matter what a product’s bottle reads. Mold can be harmless or dangerous depending on the type, while mildew is generally harmless, yet can cause severe allergies in some people. And any way you look at it, mold and mildew removal is a must. I mean come on. Who wants a nasty fuzzy mess all over the shower or along the windowsill? And that smell?

So for the sake of your sanity and everyone’s ewww gross reactions as they make a hasty exit from your bathroom and home, let’s get it cleaned up, shall we?

The first thing you really need to know is when you are dealing with either fungus, you need to wear at the very least a respiratory mask and rubber gloves. Mold can cause severe headaches, coughing, respiratory infections, dizziness, memory loss, hearing loss and joint pain. Mildew can cause allergic reactions including coughing, sneezing, sinus congestion, watery eyes, red eyes, runny nose, skin rash, fatigues and headaches.

Next, make sure you know where the source of the problem is located. You may find that it’s as simple as shower mold, which you can easily remove yourself, or something more serious like a flooded basement mold which may require the help of a professional.

If you’re planning on doing the work yourself, you can purchase a simple over-the-counter black mold removal product that is for surface cleaning only or a product that will penetrate deep down below the surface.

Whatever product you choose, make sure it’s specifically meant for the type of fungus you are removing, otherwise it will just be a waste of money and your time. You may also want to consider using a mold and mildew remover that is eco-friendly.

If you’d prefer an all-natural mold removal solution, you can try using a mixture of white vinegar and water. This solution may be a better alternative for items of delicate nature that are porous, meaning can absorb liquids easily. To use, just spray on the item and wipe away with a clean rag.

Another all-natural solution for mildew is a paste of salt and lemon juice and rubbed into the fungus. This solution can also be used on clothing, but take care not to leave in the sun since lemon is a natural lightener.

If you don’t mind the expense, many people swear by tea tree oil and water to use on mildewing stains. Just add a few drops of the oil to 1 quart of water and spray the solution onto the affected area, then wipe away with a dry rag.

To prevent problems from arising in the future one of the best and usually cheapest solutions is a dehumidifier. Dehumidifiers can help reduce fungi growth from accumulating by removing much of the humidity from the environment.

If you can’t afford a dehumidifier you can also try opening windows when you shower and turning on exhaust fans. Keeping wet towels and other moist items out of a non-ventilated bathroom may also help keep you from having to make another mold and mildew removal date with your home any time soon.

When you consider how dangerous black mold (stachybotrys chartarum) really is, it often surprises me that so many people will do quite a bit of research just to find out what sort of home removal remedies there are for black mold. Of course I also understand the need, since commercial products can be extremely expensive for those of us who are on a strict budget. Yet is it really worth the risk?

Almost everyone has probably experienced stachybotrys chartarum at least once in his or her lifetime. Just stop and think about it. Have you ever had what seemed like an allergy that just wouldn’t go away no matter what you did? Or maybe you had a cough that you could have sworn was a chronic illness that you misdiagnosed because you refused to see a doctor and find the real cause of the problem. If so, you’re not alone, but there lies the problem.

You see we often believe that what we think is something we can remedy ourselves, can actually end up being one of the biggest mistakes made. Now it certainly doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t put our trust in Mother Nature, but when it comes to serious issues like deadly molds that can potentially kill us, it’s probably not such a good idea.

Of course that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few treatments lurking around that some swear actually works. However, these so-called at-home applications are not always what they seem.

For instance, bleach is one of the most common household items that is said to eliminate molds like stachybotrys chartarum. But most bleach is diluted enough that it can’t penetrate deep down below the surface where the real problem lies. If however the fungus hasn’t come into contact with a porous surface such as a kitchen or bathroom countertop, then using bleach may actually eliminate the problem.

Some may suggest using a simple mixture of soap and water, but just like the bleach, it can’t penetrate down into the surface and it’s not strong enough to be used as a disinfectant.

Another so-called solution is rubbing alcohol. This is mostly a remedy used for leather items that can’t withstand any harsh chemical treatments. While rubbing alcohol has been used to clean and sterilize the human body, it’s not certain whether it can permanently remove fungus from leather surfaces.

And finally, sunlight has been said to be a natural remedy for black mold removal. However, it’s certainly not an option for many household surfaces or goods. So as you can see, not all black mold removal home remedies are the safest bet when it comes to your health! Please remember to use caution and use your best judgment when it comes to your safety and health.
